To Be or Not To Be
Gluten Free ???

I have an answer for you !

Over the past decade, gluten-free diets have moved from a relatively unknown concept to a mainstream way of life.   Even with an increasing awareness of gluten and the FDA's gluten-free labeling guidelines, many people are still confused about gluten.

Why Go Gluten-Free ?

Gluten is a protein found in grains such as wheat, barley, and rye.  Most notably, gluten causes inflammation of the intestines in those with celiac, a genetic disease.  People with celiac disease, gluten allergies or even gluten sensitivity can experience intestinal discomfort, diarrhea, and unhealthy weight loss.  The protein can even cause reactions to the skin, mouth, or lungs of people with a gluten allergy.  One way to alleviate these symptoms is to avoid foods containing gluten.  However ...

Gluten-Free Risks

Nutritionists do not recommend eliminating gluten from your diet unless you absolutely must.  This is because eliminating wheat and related grains can mean missing vital nutrients.  Unless these vitamins and minerals are replaced through other foods or nutritional supplelments, a gluten-free diet can be risky.  Here are just a few of needed nutrients:

Calcium - necessary for bone density and prevention of osteoporosis.

Folate - contributes to healthy blood glucose and blood pressure levels and helps the body ward off fatigue.

Iron - necessary for many body functions such as oxygen transport and metabolism.

Niacin - shown to help the body maintain healthy blood sugar and cholesterol levels.

Riboflavin - necessary for normal cell function, gowth and energy production as well as cognitive function.

Thiamin - involved in numerous body functions, including nervous system and muscle functioning.

Wheat Substitutes

You can substitute wheat flour with rice or corn flour in many recipes.  Also try incorporating gluten-free grains like quinoa and amaranth into your diet.  Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables to avoid fiber deficiency as well.  My best advce comes next.

Supplement Solution

The best way to ensure you are getting enough of each nutrient is by supplementing.  However, there are many vitamins and herbs to choose from.  This is not only confusing, but you must be extra careful which vitamins you take with which vitamins. Wrong combinations can have an adverse interaction.  For example, an adverse interaction can happen when taking vitamin E with vitamin K.  Vitamin E can interfere with Vitamin K's activity.  It is not known to what extent.  PubMed.gov has a good article entitled "Vitamin E and K interactions -- a 50-year-old problem"  by Maret G. Traber.

My Recommendation

I do have an associate degree in nutrition, but I will be the first to admit it is extremely difficult to properly balance all the vitamins, minerals, nutrients, and herbs our body needs. The very best recommendation I can make is a supplement that has 72 vitamins, minerals, trace elements and herbs in one can already properly balanced.  It is food based, so our bodies recognize it as food.  This causes our bodies to absorb the nutrition and use it as our bodies were designed to.  A lot of pill form vitamins do not dissolve quickly enough to get into our system.  Plus you would have to take 72 'pills' and balance them properly. This product absorbs right away.  Why go through all the confusion and hassle of balancing 72 vitamins and swallowing them all?

The Products I Use

You know the saying, pictures speak?  Well, here is a picture of me this year in 2022.  I am 63 years old.  No, I don't dye my hair :)  I have been using this for 27 years now!  The product is called Reliv.  I would recommend the Reliv Now which is loaded with protein, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants to support a healthy gluten-free diet.  I also highly recommend the Reliv FibRestore.  It has both soluble and insoluble fiber for a healthy digestive system.  I also added the Reliv Innergizer because it opens the cells for better absorption and boosts my metabolism.  Personally, I have also noticed my pain level and my stress level are way down!

I hope this article has been helpful to you.  If you have any questions, please feel free to text me at 440-812-9002.  Oh yes, you can see more about this nutritional product at elaine.reliv.com .   It has the description of the products and you can order right online.  You can have them shipped directly to your door.  Remember, I highly recommend the three:  Reliv Now, Fibrestore, and Innergize.  When they arrive at your door, please text me so I can help you get started taking them properly.
